Natural Vegetable Tan Shoulder 3mm (84 dm^2)

This is a natural veg tan shoulder that is Gr. 2; 3 mm thick and a size of 84 dm^2.

The Shoulder is normally a good piece of leather for those who are not sure what the are going to make. It is normally strong and often thick, with excellent durability, yet flexible too, thanks to the movement of the neck and head of the cow. The leather is suitable for straps, belts etc. The shoulder is one of the more affordable pieces of vegetable tan leather, as the square decimeters are normally enough for most first projects but not enough to break the bank. Shoulder size ranges from the mid 40 square decimeters to the mid to high 70 square decimeters. Depending on the availability we will be keeping the shoulder hides in thickness ranging from 1.2mm to 3mm in both Grade 1 and Grade 2. Now what does first grade and second grade mean. First grade means that there is less than 25% of the hide or section (in this case a shoulder) has a blemish. a Blemish is something that has scratched or nicked the hide. This means that grade 2 has more than 25% of the usable area that is damaged up to about 40%. Other than that the hides are the same. Mostly you would not notice some of these blemishes and more often than not you would be able to work around the blemishes.
